Supporting and helping Birmingham children Birmingham 130 years

The NSPCC Birmingham Branch was founded on 27 September 1888. From December 1889, the Branch had an Inspector, who was based at a Local Office at 12 Bennetts Hill. He served some areas outside the City, such as Edgbaston and Solihull. By September 1891, the Local Office had moved to 29 Broad Street, and there was a Shelter with two beds for the temporary refuge of children in great danger. In the present day, the NSPCC is now based on the Hagley Road where you will also find its Childline Base with over 180 volunteers helping to run this invaluable service.
